Jeffrey L. Hannah, 42, of 150 College Ave., was arrested after police spotted him in the passenger seat of his mother’s car on Front Street a little after 5 p.m., according to Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey of the Waterville Police Department. Hannah had sold crack cocaine to two undercover detectives earlier this month, Rumsey said, and Hannah had an arrest warrant out for him.

Police pulled the car over and Hannah took more than two and a half grams of crack cocaine out of his pocket and gave it to his mother, Rumsey said. They were both brought to the police station to be questioned,. Before police even searched them, Hannah’s mother told officers about the crack her son had given her in the car, Rumsey said.

Hannah was charged with two counts of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs for the alleged sales to detectives, and one count of unlawful furnishing a scheduled drug for the alleged possession he gave to his mother upon getting pulled over. Hannah’s mother was not charged, Rumsey said.

When Hannah’s College Avenue apartment was searched, officers found Sarah Joy Belanger, 31, of Abbott Road, Winslow. Belanger was on probation, and was tested positive for cocaine consumption, Rumsey said. She was taken to Kennebec County jail in Augusta on a probation hold.

Hannah has a March 11 court date at Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta, while Belanger has a March 4 court date at Waterville District Court.
