A Vassalboro man with a lengthy record is facing new charges of trafficking in a variety of drugs.

Shane Wood, 46, is charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in illegal drugs and two counts of possession of illegal drugs after police and drug agents searched his home, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a release.

Wood was being held at the Kennebec County jail Wednesday in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $100,000 surety.

Wood was originally arrested Monday by police responding to a complaint at his Crowell Road home and charged with domestic violence assault, domestic violence terrorizing, criminal restraint and refusing to submit to arrest. The alleged victim was a woman at Wood’s home, McCausland said.

Wood has drug charges and convictions dating back to at least 2000, according to published reports. He most recently was sentenced to more than a month in jail and fined $400 for convictions in May on charges of terrorizing, assault and violating conditions of release. Wood was sentenced in 2008 to two years in prison and fined $400 for a conviction of aggravated trafficking in marijuana and violating conditions of release.

Kennebec County sheriff deputies, Maine State Police and Maine Drug Enforcement Agents searched Wood’s home Tuesday and seized eight pounds of marijuana, more than 1,000 prescription pills and more than eight grams of cocaine and heroin, McCausland said. Police also found nearly $6,000 in cash. Drug agents said the street value of the marijuana and pills exceeds $20,000, McCausland said.
