The injured man, Larry Edwards, 44, was taken to the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville and then flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, according to a news release by Steve McCausland, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety.

Charles Colpitts, of Canada, was driving the tractor-trailer that tried to merge with traffic, according to McCausland. Edwards’ tractor-trailer ended up in the median, he said.

“Colpitts was not injured and he was able to pull his truck to the side of the road,” McCausland said in the release. “Both tractor-trailers were loaded and remained upright.”

The crash occurred near mile marker 135 of I-95. Northbound traffic was reduced to one lane, which was expected to continue for the evening commute, according to McCausland. He said the southbound lanes of the interstate were not affected.
