RICHMOND — Alice D. Elliott, of Richmond, has filed to run for state House District 55 as a Democrat.

The district includes Bowdoinham, Bowdoin and most of Richmond.

Elliott is seeking to fill the seat held by House Majority Leader Seth Berry, who cannot run for the seat because of term limits.

Elliott, according to a news release, is associate director of the Goldfarb Center for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement at Colby College in Waterville.

Elliott, a graduate of Bradley University, has trained adult Girl Scout leaders and recently served as a University of Maine Cooperative Extension master gardener volunteer and vice president of the Master Gardener Development Board.

She is the only Democratic candidate to file papers for the seat.

Dean O. Beckwith and Brian D. Hobart, both from Bowdoinham, are running as Republicans for the seat, according to a state Bureau of Corporations, Elections and Commissions database of candidates for the June 10 primary elections.
