A Readfield woman was stabbed on a remote road in either Wilton or Chesterville Monday night, and state police are looking for the public’s help in finding out what happened.
The 33-year-old woman, who was stabbed in the arm after her car broke down after 7 p.m., drove herself to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, according to a press release from Maine Department of Safety spokesman Steve McCausland.
Sgt. Matt Casavant said the assault took place on McCrillis Corner Road, close to the Wilton-Chesterville town line.
The woman told state police that she put up a struggle and her assailant fled. He’d stopped to help her, then assaulted her, Casavant said.
He’s believed to be driving a white Chevrolet pickup and is about 5-feet 10-inches tall, with a goatee and wearing a mad bomber hat.
The woman got her car started after the assault and drove herself the three miles to the hospital, where she was treated and released, according to the press release.
