BANGOR — Authorities have determined that a man found dead in a Bangor apartment by police responding to a domestic disturbance call killed himself.
Police responding to a city apartment Tuesday afternoon found 53-year-old William Spiess dead in a bedroom.
Sgt. Paul Edwards says Spiess pulled a gun during an argument with his wife and shot himself as the woman and her teenage son ran from the building. The woman and the boy were not hurt.
The medical examiner determined that the gunshot injury was self-inflicted.
The handgun was recovered.
Police evacuated the neighborhood and rerouted school buses in the Bolling Drive area during the incident.
