PHOTO: Meet the new federal judge

Nancy Torresen was sworn in today as the 17th U.S. District Court judge in Maine, the first woman to hold that posiiton in the state. Following the ceremony at the Edward T. Gignoux U.S. Courthouse in Portland, Judge Torresen got a congratuatory hug from retired Judge Vincent McKusick. On the bench during the ceremony were Chief Circuit Judge Sandra Lynch, Circuit Judge Kermit Lipez, Chief Judge John Woodcock, and Judge D. Brock Hornby. Guests included former Sen. George Mitchell, Sen.Olympia Snowe, Sen. Susan Collins, and Reps. Michael Michaud and Chellie Pingree.
