NEWMARKET, N.H. — Police in Newmarket, N.H., have arrested a woman after a neighbor found her two children locked outside of the house in freezing weather.
Police said Nicole Fahey's children, ages 6 and 10, had arrived home from school on the bus on Jan. 18 and tried to get inside their apartment, but couldn't. A neighbor heard them crying and called police.
Police Lt. Kyle True told the Portsmouth Herald the children were alone and were not dressed for the weather.
Police found 29-year-old Nicole Fahey about an hour later. She was later arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of possession of heroin. Police said they found heroin and drug paraphernalia in the apartment.
She's scheduled for arraignment in March.
