NH man indicted in 140 mph motorcycle chase

LACONIA, N.H. — A New Hampshire man has been indicted on a charge of felony reckless conduct after police said he drove up to 140 mph on Interstate 93 while attempting to elude them.

Police said 47-year-old Thomas Van Uden of Goffstown was carrying a passenger on July 4 in Tilton. They said he was changing lanes erratically and driving on the white dotted line between vehicles before the motorcycle struck the back of a car in Sanbornton.

Police said both Van Uden and his passenger were wearing helmets but suffered serious injuries.

The Citizen reports the Belknap County grand jury met last month. It also indicted Van Uden on a charge of disobeying a police officer, alleging that he failed to stop when signaled.
