Nicole McSweeney has been named vice president of development and communications at MaineGeneral Health and will oversee the hospital organization’s philanthropy, marketing and communications.

She first joined MaineGeneral in July 2002 as a marketing and communications specialist and most recently was director of marketing and communications, according to a news release from the hospital organization.

“Nicole has worked with senior leaders to develop a strategic and marketing plan that supports our organizational goals,” said Chuck Hays, chief executive officer at MaineGeneral Health. “This new position is a great opportunity to more closely align philanthropy, marketing and communications goals, and I can think of no one better suited to lead this effort.”

McSweeney, 41, of Readfield, has a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southern Maine. Before joining the hospital staff, she was a marketing coordinator for Adelphia, which was absorbed by Time Warner Cable.

She is pursuing her master’s degree in business administration from Thomas College in Waterville.
