A Lang Township man on probation for burglary was arrested Sunday on charges of breaking into three vehicles at Saddleback Mountain.

Matthew Lavoie, 24, was arrested Sunday after police said he used a stolen credit card and a debit card taken from vehicles at the Rangeley ski resort.

The car burglaries at Saddleback Mountain were first reported Saturday, according to a press release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department. Deputy Nick Zecher found items had been stolen from three cars whent he car window was broken or the car had been left unlocked.

Zecher learned a man had attempted to use a debit card and credit card from the burglaries at a convenience store, according the news release. After interviewing witnesses at the store, Zecher identified the man that used the card as Lavoie, who is originally from Lewiston and lives in Lang Township.

Sheriff’s deputies, armed with a warrant, searched Lavoie’s residence and found stolen items taken from each car, according to the release.

Lavoie was arrested from the Franklin County Jail, where he was being held on an unrelated domestic violence charge.

Along with the burglary charges, Lavoie is also charged with operating after license suspension.
