PARIS — An Oxford County woman has been sentenced to nine months in jail for lying in a complaint she made against a Dixfield police officer.

Nikki Libby was sentenced this week after a jury found her guilty of unsworn falsification verdict.

The 35-year-old Libby filed a formal complaint against the officer, claiming he used excessive force when he arrested her on a warrant at her Mexico apartment last June. She said she told the officer the handcuffs he put on her were too tight and he was hurting her.

The Sun Journal reports prosecutors said a medical report and video of the incident showed no excessive force and no damage from the handcuffs.

Her lawyer told the jury that police used selective medical reports to prove Libby was not injured.
