Maine to hold 2nd public hearing on Bingham wind project

The plan calls for 62 turbines in Somerset and Piscataquis counties.

The Associated Press

BINGHAM — Maine officials will hear from the public Wednesday on a proposal to build a 62-turbine wind farm in Somerset and Piscataquis counties.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is holding the second public meeting on the proposal by Blue Sky West LLC and Blue Sky West II LLC to develop the 206-megawatt project in Bingham, Mayfield Township and Kingsbury Plantation. The meeting will be held at Quimby School in Bingham.

The department says it’s gathering public feedback on its draft analysis of the project and will make a final decision on the project sometime this spring.
