MaineGeneral Health named a former state controller as its administrative director of finance.

Terry Brann, former acting deputy commissioner and state controller at the Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services, began his duties at the Augusta-based hospital system on Tuesday, according to a release from MaineGeneral.

Brann first joined the Office of the State Auditor in 1987. He has been in the Office of the State Controller since 1998 and deputy commissioner since October 2012, according to the release.

Michael Koziol, senior vice president and chief financial officer at MaineGeneral, said in the release he’s pleased Brann, with an extensive background in many areas of financial management and 25 years of experience, has joined MaineGeneral.

“He has served several years in state government in leadership positions during very challenging financial times,” Koziol said. “His strengths include improving efficiency, implementing financial controls and processes, financial analysis and organizational review.”

Brann earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Maine at Augusta. He has been a certified public accountant since 1996.
