SURRY — Maine State Police say a Deer Isle teenager has died in a dirt bike accident.
Authorities say 19-year-old Derrick Robbins was operating the dirt bike without lights at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday when he swerved and collided with a car in Surry.
Troopers say Robbins was killed instantly.
The driver of the car, identified by police as 26-year-old Mark Clapp of Surry, sustained minor injuries.
Police say the collision took place at the crest of hill and it appears Robbins had ridden the motorcycle about 20 miles from his home.
The crash remains under investigation.
