LePage taking hospital debt plan on the road

AUBURN — Gov. Paul LePage is taking his plan on the road to repay Maine's hospitals a $484 million Medicaid debt.

The governor is visiting Auburn and Lewiston on Friday to promote his emergency legislation, which would use revenue from a restructured liquor sales contract to repay Maine's 39 hospitals. LePage has threatened to veto any bill that comes to his desk before his hospital bill is passed.

LePage's first stop will be at Roopers Beverage in Auburn where business owners and state alcohol beverages director Gerry Reid will speak.

The governor also will speak at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he'll hear how the hospital's been affected by the Medicaid debt.

LePage plans additional visits in the Lewiston area Friday as part of the Capitol for a Day program.
