ORONO — The Maine football team has been selected to finish seventh in the 10-team Colonial Athletic Association this season in a vote of the league's head coaches and media relations personnel.
Reigning national champion Villanova was selected as the preseason favorite to repeat as league champions in results released today at the conference's annual media day in Baltimore.
William & Mary was picked to finish second, followed by New Hampshire, James Madison, Delaware and Richmond. Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Towson were picked to finish in the final three spots behind Maine.
The Black Bears open their season Sept. 2 at home against Albany.
