Maine constitutional officials to take oaths

AUGUSTA — Janet Mills and Matthew Dunlap will return to their previous jobs as attorney general and secretary of state respectively as Maine's three constitutional officers are sworn in by Gov. Paul LePage. The third, Neria Douglass, takes over as state treasurer as term limits bring her service as Maine auditor to an end.

Those officials plus newly elected auditor Pola Buckley will be formally sworn in on Monday, the day before the Legislature returns to begin its business for 2013.

Democrats Mills, Dunlap and Douglass ousted Republican Attorney General William Schneider, Secretary of State Charlie Summers and Treasurer Bruce Poliquin after the Democrats took back their legislative majorities in November.

Pola Buckley, principal auditor in the Department of Audit, replaces Douglass in the top job in the department.
