BANGOR – A Maine woman was found guilty of murder Friday for killing her husband in 2011 using pliers, a box cutter and a plastic baseball bat during a jealous rage.

Judge E. Allen Hunter described Roxanne Jeskey’s actions as “monstrous savagery” when he delivered his verdict.

Police said the Bangor woman used the weapons to kill her husband, Richard Jeskey. His naked body was found in a bathtub the day after the killing in 2011.

A medical examiner reported that Richard Jeskey was beaten and strangled and suffered cuts, punctures and bruises from head to toe in the assault.

Jeskey faces a sentence of 25 years to life. A sentencing date has not been set.

Attorneys used an insanity defense in the trial of Jeskey, saying she suffered from seizures and psychiatric disorders. A neighbor testified that Jeskey was angry her husband had been calling another woman.

A judge ruled in December that Jeskey was competent to assist in her defense, which cleared the way for her trial to begin.

Police said Jeskey acknowledged to authorities that she and her husband had a fight because of the phone call.
