BINGHAM — Police have charged two people in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sale of heroin in the Jackman area after allegedly discovering several grams of heroin in an SUV vehicle on U.S. Route 201.

Daniel Dubois, 37, of Jackman, was charged with possession of a scheduled drug and furnishing in a scheduled drug; and Alicia Goodwin, 30, also of Jackman, was charged with possession of a scheduled drug on two counts, according to a press release from the Somerset County Sheriff’s Department.

The pair were arrested at about 6:30 p.m. Friday on U.S. 201 after police stopped and searched the 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, according to the release.

Police said they found several grams of heroin, Suboxin strips and drug-related paraphernalia. The street value of a gram of heroin is between $200 and $250, according to the release.

Goodwin was also arrested on a warrant related to an unpaid fine and a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

The sheriff’s department is working with the Somerset County district attorney’s office to review the case and additional charges are possible, according to the release.

Both Dubois and Goodwin were released from the Somerset County Jail in East Madison on bail and are scheduled to appear in Skowhegan District Court on June 11.
