SIDNEY — Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after their truck rolled over on Interstate 95 Saturday afternoon.

Adrian Gosselin, 29, was driving north with passenger Stacy Pratts, 22, both of Durham, when he told police he started to drift asleep at the wheel, swerved and then overcorrected, according to Maine State Police Trooper Breanne Petrini.

“He ended up overcorrecting, the vehicle began to skid and came to a snow bank which is when it rolled,” she said.

Petrini said there were no signs of alcohol or drugs involved in the accident and no citations were issued.

Both driver and passenger were transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, said Petrini. They were both wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

“Their injuries could have been a lot worse if they were not wearing their seatbelts,” she said.

Along with the Maine State Police, Sidney Fire Department and Delta Ambulance assisted at the accident. Petrini said responders were at the scene of the accident for about a half hour. The truck was towed from the scene.

Drivers are urged to proceed with caution on icy roads during the winter months and to take scheduled breaks to avoid drowsiness, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.
