NEW HAMPTON, N.H. — New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers and Alton firefighters have come to the aid of a hiker who injured her leg on Mount Major.
Rescuers carried 21-year-old Shannon Koechel of Bedford down a trail on Sunday afternoon. They reached the parking lot about two hours after she and a friend called 911 from the Boulder Loop Trail in Alton.
Officers said the hikers were well prepared for an emergency, being equipped with extra clothing, a headlamp, first aid equipment and food and water.
