AUGUSTA — A woman reported being attacked and robbed while walking on Jefferson Street this morning.

A 43-year-old Gardiner woman told police she was walking on Jefferson Street at about 11:30 a.m. when she was attacked by a man and two women, who hit her in the face, and took the small amount of money she had, as well as her keys, according to Lt. Christopher Massey.

She said the attackers then ran to a blue Dodge Caravan and drove off.

Massey said the woman knew the man, whom police have identified as also being the subject of an unrelated arrest warrant.

The incident is under investigation.
