Staff Report
AUGUSTA — Kennebec Savings Bank officials say they are sorting out a problem affecting customers who made deposits at ATMs over the past few days only to find the deposits missing from their accounts.
“It was a technical issue that occurred,” said Mark Johnston, bank president and CEO. “It affected a few employees, so we heard about it right away.”
He said he did not yet know the full details of the problem or when it occurred. There were reports of customer deposits going missing Friday night.
Johnston said today that the system is working properly and no one will lose money as a result of the deposit problem.
"We’ll make sure every account is properly credited before the morning’s out,” Johnston said.
