CLINTON — Voters will consider the local police department's budget for a second time from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Town Hall.
Clinton voters rejected the budget 267-192 at the annual Town Meeting in June. The proposed budget of $197,954 is $90 less than last year's.
A majority of those attending three public hearings in June and July about the department favored keeping a local police force, but complaints arose about the professionalism of officers and the abundance of traffic stops by Clinton police.
If the budget is rejected once again, the department will operate on the previous year's budget. A vote at the annual Town Meeting in June would then decide if the department will be dissolved.
