Cat stuck in tree for week back on ground, but where?

The Associated Press

ROCHESTER, Mass. — A cat that spent at least seven days stuck 80 feet up a tree in Rochester is back on solid ground, but animal welfare activists are still looking for it because it ran away and is probably hurt.

The cat fell to the ground and ran off after firefighters cut the branch it was perched on Sunday.

Pam Robinson, founder of a cat shelter in town, tells The Standard Times of New Bedford she and other volunteers will look for the cat Monday. She says the animal probably has frostbite and is hungry.

The cat was first spotted on Christmas Eve by someone who lives in the area, who heard it crying.

Local fire departments, as well as a tree-cutting service, made several attempts to rescue the cat before Sunday's success.
