Cash mob planned for Gardiner

Organizers of the Feb. 8 event will announce the meeting place a couple of days before the cash mob.

GARDINER — Community members are organizing a downtown cash mob Saturday, Feb. 8, to help local businesses during the winter months.

The goal is for participants to spend $20 at downtown businesses. The meeting place for the 2 p.m. cash mob will be announced a day or two before on the event’s Facebook page.

Deborah Files, an organizer for the cash mob, said she’ll be giving out prizes to the most enthusiastic participants. After shopping at downtown businesses, participants will meet at a local restaurant, Files said.
