The crew of a Coast Guard auxiliary boat comes to the aid of a man after the skiff he was in, at left, collided with a 38-foot motor yacht off Little John Island in Yarmouth.

A 63-year-old Brunswick man was killed late Friday afternoon in a boat collision off Littlejohn Island in Yarmouth.
The man, whose name was being withheld by the Maine Marine Patrol, was operating a small aluminum skiff about 5:15 p.m. when it collided with a 38-foot motor yacht.
The name of the yacht owner and operator was being withheld by the marine patrol. The yacht was carrying several passengers.
The victim, who was unresponsive, was pulled from the water shortly after the collision by the crew of a Coast Guard auxiliary boat that happened to be in the area, said Maine Marine Patrol Sgt. Rob Beal. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful, Beal said.
Beal said the cause of the accident is being investigated. The skiff received major damage while the yacht sustained minor damage.
No other injuries were reported in the incident, Beal said.
