AUGUSTA — Three people from New York City were arrested Wednesday afternoon after a months-long investigation by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Raishawn Key, 31, Robert Lowry, 33, and Latoya Pugh, 33, were all charged with two counts of aggravated trafficking in cocaine and heroin. The trio was being held Thursday at the Kennebec County jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.

“Police have had the trio under investigation for about two months after reports they were selling crack cocaine and heroin in the greater Augusta area,” Commander Darrell Crandall of the MDEA said in a release.

Drug agents found the group at an area hotel earlier this week. Agents, assisted by Augusta and State Police and Kennebec County Sheriff Deputies, stopped the trio’s 2012 Honda Accord — which had  Pennsylvania plates — around 3:45 p.m., Wednesday, near the intersection of Community and Civic Center drives.

Agents also searched the hotel room where the group had been staying and seized more than 57 grams of crack cocaine, 10 grams of heroin and $1,300 cash, Crandall said. The drugs have an estimated value of $9,000.

Crandall said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are probable.
