41 immigrants become US citizens

PORTLAND — Forty-one immigrants are being sworn in as new U.S. citizens in Maine.

Today's citizenship ceremony is being administered by U.S. District Judge George Singal in federal court in Portland.

Following the ceremony, each participant is getting an American Flag from the Daughters of the American Revolution, a copy of the Mayflower Compact from the Maine chapter of the Mayflower Society, and voter registration cards from the League of Women Voters of the Greater Portland Area.
