The two-year old Farmingdale boy found unresponsive in his family’s pool Thursday morning is doing much better at the hospital, according to police.
“The family is saying his condition has drastically improved,” said Sgt. Frank Hatch of the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.
Cody Campbell was on life support Thursday at Maine Medical Center in Portland after being taken by a LifeFlight helicopter from MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with only a faint heartbeat.
The boy’s mother found him floating face down Thursday morning in their above-ground swimming pool at their Northern Avenue residence, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
Hatch said it appears the boy made his way outside, climbed up the pool’s ladder and somehow fell into the pool.
He said the mother jumped in the pool and pulled the boy out. The 911 dispatcher then talked her through giving her son rescue breaths, Hatch said.
The boy wasn’t breathing and didn’t have a pulse when rescue personnel first arrived, Hutch said.
The incident is still under investigation.
