2 Dresden residents charged in Friday Bath pharmacy robbery

Two Dresden residents have been charged with conspiring to rob a Walgreens pharmacy in Bath on Friday, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Thomas E. Delahanty II.

Nicholas Alexander and Devin Alexander, both 23, allegedly handed a pharmacist a note that read "You have 20 seconds to give me all your Oxycodone 15s and 30s or I will blow your (expletive) brains out." In response, Nicholas Alexander, who was arrested June 15, was given a bag with 11 bottles of oxycodone tablets according to allegations.

Two days later, Devin Alexander, who is Nicholas's sister-in-law, was also arrested.

Both defendants made initial appearances in federal court Monday. Devin Alexander was released on $6,000 unsecured bail, according to Molly Butler Bailey, the attorney who represented her in court on Monday. A criminal complaint is an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

If convicted, the defendants face up to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and restitution.

The investigation is being conducted by the Bath Police Department, the FBI, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office.
