Maine State employee to attend NYC Dr. Oz taping

Kennebec Journal Staff

MANCHESTER -- Janice Arsenault, director of Employee Health and Wellness for the Maine Department of Transportation Office of Safety, was the recipient of a free trip to New York City to attend a taping of "The Dr. Oz Show."

The contest was sponsored by the Maine Health Management Coalition, which represents a broad swath of employers in Maine, including the state of Maine, the university system, teachers, Bath Iron Works, Hannaford and Wright Express, etc., as well as hospitals and insurers.

The group focuses on improving the quality of care and reducing costs to get more value for health benefit spending.

The coalition ran a contest in November and December to get people to watch a short video by Dr. Mehmet Oz on the importance of shopping for quality health care providers as a way to promote its new website. Anyone who watched the video could enter the drawing.

"The Dr. Oz Show" airs at 4 p.m. on WGME.

According to Mark Ishkanian, a spokesman for the coalition, the group is trying to arrange a personal meeting with Oz.
