Local military members honored

Marc C. Beaudoin, 23, a member of the class of 2011 and international history major at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, will serve as regimental commander for Cadet Basic Training this summer.

At basic training, he will be responsible for the training and development of more than 1,400 new cadets and 200 upper-class cadets.

After basic training, Beaudoin will travel to Carlisle, Pa., to conduct research at the Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Research Center.

Beaudoin, of Chelsea, is a 2006 graduate of Cheverus High School.

Army Pvt. Jonathan J. Marsh recently graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Marsh is the son of Flora Marsh and stepson of Joshua Rice of West Gardiner. He is a 2006 graduate of Gardiner Area High School.

Air Force Airman Matthew R. Harper recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Harper is the son of Alice Harper of Hallowell.

Army Reserve Spec. Ryan A. Phillips has been mobilized and activated at Fort Dix, N.J., in preparation for deployment to serve in support of either Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom. Phillips is a member of the 94th Military Police Company, Londonderry, N.H.

Phillips is a military police member with more than two years of military service.

He is the son of Mark A. and Carol L. Phillips of Winthrop and a 2007 graduate of Winthrop High School.
