GARDINER -- Singing, dancing, poetry, rock bands and more were all included in the 19 acts that competed in the recent Johnson Hall Whatever Festival Talent Show on the banks of the Kennebec River in Gardiner.
Grand prize and $200 was awarded to Sierra Carey of South China. Carey sang Demi Lavato's "World of Chances." First place and $100 was awarded to Nicolette Smith of Lincoln who sang "Memory" from Cats.
Tied for second place were Winthrop rock band FYVE -- members are Danielle Pease, Kristen Veayo, Katherine Veayo, Aaron St. Pierre and Declan Chu -- who sang Paramore's "Crush, Crush, Crush" and Michele Sarachick of Farmingdale, who sang Celine Dion's "Have You Ever Been in Love?" Each received $50.
Junior prize -- 12 and younger -- was awarded to fiddler Anna Peterson of Gardiner, who performed a Moon and 7 Stars medley. She received $100.
The host was Gary Crocker. The show is part of Gardiner's kickoff to the Whatever Family Festival.
