Hidden Valley Nature Center hosts Feb. 5 biathalon event

JEFFERSON -- Hidden Valley Nature Center will host a cross-country skiing and target shooting race at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 5 at the center, 131 Egypt Road.

The course is approximately one kilometre long. Between rounds of skiing, participants will swing through the shooting arena and shoot pellet guns from a prone position. Beginners are welcome.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with a mandatory gun safety clinic and a ski clinic will be available before the race. There will also be a snowshoe race.

This event, which will serve as an introduction to the sport, will take place with or without snow. Participants should bring their own ski gear. Guns are provided. A donation of $15 for adults and $10 for high school students or children is suggested.
