Crisci represents Team USA in 2011 Goodwill Games

Brent J. Crisci, director of the United Martial Art Academies Dojos based in Augusta, recently returned from Rio San Juan, Dominican Republic, where he represented Team USA Karate at the 2011 Goodwill Games.

Competing in the Masters Division, Crisci received the gold medal in fighting, forms and weapons. He received the Diamond Award, along with his gold medals and the Triple Crown world champion ring adorned with diamonds and three rubies for each gold medal win.

Accompanying Crisci was Junior Black Belt Anastasia Pelletier from the Gardiner United Martial Arts Academies. Pelletier won the gold medal in sparring and the silver medal in the kata division for her age and rank.

The games were sponsored by the World Congress Of Martial Arts and had competitors representing the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Venezuela and Mexico.

The 2011 KicksUSA National Championships -- set for May 14 in Gardiner -- will act as a qualifier for Team USA Karate 2012. For more information, call 621-0770.
