Cares, Inc. announces Assistive Technology Loan Program

Kennebec Journal Staff

Cares, Inc., has announced the availability of its Assistive Technology Loan Program, which loans assistive technology equipment to people who are elderly or disabled.

Assistive technology -- devices that make life easier at work, school and home -- varies from a walker or crutches, to a computer that types spoken words and more. The program gives people the opportunity to try different technology free of charge for 30 days.

The program, funded through a grant by the Department of Education's Maine CITE Program, is available to residents of Androscoggin, Oxford, Franklin, Kennebec, Knox and Lincoln counties.
