Lewiston scored two goals in the second period and held on for a 2-0 victory over top-seeded Leavitt/Edward Little in the East regional girls hockey championship Wednesday evening at the Portland Ice Area.

The second-seeded Blue Devils (15-5-1) avenged two losses to the Red Hornets (17-4) during the season and will make their first trip to the state title game since 2010.

Lewiston will play Saturday night at 7 p.m. on its home ice, the Colisee, against the winner of Wednesday night’s West title game between Scarborough and Falmouth.

Lewiston won the first-ever girls state title game in 2009, and then finished second to Cheverus in 2010.

Leavitt/Edward Little was attempting to reach the title game for the first time.

Lewiston lost twice to the Red Hornets during the season, 3-2 and 3-1, but jumped ahead Wednesday on goals by Corinne Laberge (assisted by Emily Turner) and Allison Frechette (assisted by Laberge).
