Michael Pajak, campaign manager for Republican Bill Beardsley, has signed on with Kevin Scott, an independent running for governor.

 Pajak will manage Scott's campaign.

"The divisive system of party politics has brought Maine and the nation to its economic knees," Pajak said in a press release. "Kevin Scott is the 'Citizen Candidate' who is offering the independent Maine voter an independent option on November's ballot."

Scott, 42, owns a company called Recruiting Resources International and has served on the Andover Water District and Andover Planning Board. He's one of three independents in the race, joining Eliot Cutler and Shawn Moody.

Cutler has recruited Democratic staffers to work on his campaign and recently touted support from several Republicans. Moody hired Dennis Bailey -- who worked for Democrat Rosa Scarcelli during the primary -- to serve as a consultant.

The three independents face Republican Paul LePage, mayor of Waterville, and Senate President Elizabeth Mitchell, a Democrat.
