The Red County Caucus, which represents conservatives in Piscataquis County, will announce on Friday that it is backing Waterville Mayor Paul LePage in the GOP primary, the LePage campaign announced today.

The group formed last year in honor of the fact that Piscataquis was the only county in New England to support McCain/Palin in 2008. They had originally planned to announce their pick at the Republican convention, but decided they needed more time to consider their options.

The official announcement will be made at 11 a.m. Friday at Dover-Foxcroft District Court.
