CASTINE — Messalonskee High School graduate Mary Badeen was named the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Rookie of the Week.

Badeen, a freshman guard at Maine Maritime Academy, scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a double-overtime loss to UMass Boston, then had 19 points, eight rebounds and three assists in a win over Elmira in her first two collegiate games last week.
