Three players with local ties — Kenni Norton, Mt. Abram; Megan Pelletier, Winslow and Levi Barnes, Skowhegan — were honored by the North Atlantic Conference this week.
Norton, a senior forward at the University of Maine at Farmington, was named the conference's women's basketball player of the week after averaging 20.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in UMF's wins over Johnson State and Lyndon State. Norton had 27 points, three rebounds and four assists in the win over Johnson State and 14 points and 10 rebounds against Lyndon State.
Pelletier, a freshman forward at Thomas College, was named the women's basketball rookie of the week after averaging 18 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Lyndon State and a win over Johnson State. She had 18 points and 14 rebounds against Lyndon and 22 points against Johnson.
Barnes, a freshman guard at Thomas College, was named the men's basketball rookie of the week after avering 16 points last week. He had 22 points in a New Year’s Day loss to Eastern Nazarene. He also averaged 3.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in three games.
