A number of local athletes earned weekly honors from their conference's this week.

MMBCWA Co-Player of the week
Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond)
Husson Jr. center
Zaharchuk averaged 27.5 points and 16 rebounds per game in a pair of losses. He had 28 and 18 in a 97-96 loss to Castleton, and 27 and 14 in a 95-91 loss to Green Mountain.

Men’s basketball rookie of the week
Joe McCloskey (Howland)
UMF Fr. forward
McCloskey helped the Beavers remain unbeaten with a pair of productive games. he had 14 points against New England College and 20 points and seven rebounds vs. Colby-Sawyer.

Men’s basketball player of the week
Sam Leclerc (Fayette)
Bentley Sr. guard
Leclerc averaged 25 points and eight rebounds in a pair of road wins for the Falcons. He had 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 73-66 double-overtime win over Stonehill and 24 points in a 70-60 win over Franklin Pierce.

Pet Sumner (Cramerton, N.C.)
UMF So. guard
Sumner scored 23 points in a 92-77 win over New England College and 16 points in a 77-74 overtime win over Colby-Sawyer as the Beavers went 2-0.

Lindsay Ranquist (Owls Head)
UMF Fr. guard
Ranquist scored 13 points in a 74-51 loss to Colby-Sawyer.

Women’s hockey player of the week
Brianne Wheeler (Brussels, Ontario)
Colby So. goalie
Wheeler had 34 saves in a 2-0 win over the University of Southern Maine.
