WATERVILLE — The Colby College women’s basketball team is ranked among the best in the country in a two national polls.
The Mules were ranked 16th in the D3hoops.com poll and 20th in the USA Today/ESPN rankings.
The Mules went 22-6 last season and made the NCAA Division III tournament for the second season in a row. Under first-year head coach Julie Veilleux, the Mules return four starters and key players off the bench.
Colby was on of three New England Small College Athletic Conference teams to make the polls. Amherst College is ranked No. 1 in both polls after winning the national title last season. Bowdoin College, meanwhile, is ranked 14th in the D3hoops.com poll and 11th in the USA Today/EPSN poll.
