Cony High School graduate Matt Rende, the quarterback on the Maine Maritime Academy football team, was named the New England Football Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Rende rushed for 151 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns in MMA's 36-34 win over Westfield State in double overtime on Saturday. He also passed for a touchdown. His 74-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter forced overtime. He rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown in the overtimes.

This is the second straight week the NEFC has honored Rende. He was named to the weekly honor roll last week.

Also for MMA, Lawrence High School graduate Brock Lawrence, a Lawrence High School graduate, was named to the NEFC weekly honor roll after recording 10 tackles and an interception.
