Goodall received 13,370 votes to Pierce’s 7,580, according to unofficial vote results.

Goodall, 34, of Richmond, got the most votes in 10 of the district’s 11 municipalities, and tied in the other. The candidates tied in Dresden, with 488 votes each.

Pierce, 50, is chairman of the Dresden Planning Board and owner of a home restoration business.

Goodall was reelected to his third straight term. He is a lawyer and former chairman of the Richmond Selectmen.

“I want to tip my hat to Jeff Pierce, he ran a really good race, and we focused on the issues,” Goodall said Wednesday. “That’s what the voters want and deserved. Their message was loud and clear, they want us to get to work in a bipartisan way in order to address the challenges to improve our economy and help create good paying jobs.”

Senate District 19 includes Richmond, Dresden, Arrowsic, Bath, Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Georgetown, Phippsburg, Topsham, West Bath, Woolwich and the unorganized township of Perkins.
