Amy Lawson drives 3/8 inch sheet metal screws into a teammate's running shoes on Thursday morning before the Gasping Gobbler 5K Road Race to Benefit Cony High School Athletics in Augusta. The screws are short enough that they don't go through the shoes and the heads give traction like studded snow tires on the icy roads.
